B Is For Buckeye An Ohio Alphabet Edition 1 Discover America State By State Alphabet SeriesDoes work for The Ohio Historical Society and helped publish a book called Marking Ohio s History so she is very ualified to present us with the facts she does in B is for Buckeye The illustrator Bruce Langton is very well accomplished with his oil acrylic and watercolor and his wildlife pictures are brilliant His illustrations work well in this story they seem almost like looking at a photograph I would however have loved to see this story all about Ohio having an Ohio native as an author also have an illustrator from Ohio This book is a great read and would be a wonderful addition to a classroom during a lesson on Ohio Each letter has a short poem filled with information on that letter like L stands for lady bug Tiny red and black she wears a cloak of polka dots upon her round hard back These short pieces of information make a nice choice for young readers in kindergarten and first grade For the older reader in grades second through fourth ach letter has a side bar on the page with much additional information that ties the part in with Ohio I am always drawn to books on local history And This One Would Make this one would make great read along with its companion Cardinal Numbers An Ohio Counting book also by this author Schonberg M B is for buckeye an ohio alphabet 2000 Chelsea MI Sleeping Bear PressI loved this book Many uniue state facts Contains catchy snippets of facts on the main part of the page with in depth facts along the margins There is a Basket of Buckeyes list of facts on the last page This book could be used for children as young as 3 or 4 who are learning their abc s or for grade school age children Could be incorporated into a lesson on Ohio History The po.
