so darn cutePart of the storyline involves fighting racism toward a young Chinese woman who works darn cutePart of the storyline involves fighting racism toward a young Chinese woman who works Ben s mom s hotel restaurant She s ivotal to the Husband In Training plot but also has a charming romance brewingAuthor Jo Goodman is very good at illustrating with her words I love her details the way she describes the slightest movement and expression that tells a story as much as the dialogue This detail can seem like it slows the story down but I never rush through it or skip it I love the nuance it gives the story making it come alive visually Goodman is a master at using simple dialogue short and sweet sometimes with barbs to engage the reader in her charactersersonalities I love thatAlthough a lot is happening in this book you still get to stroll through the town with the characters and get a feel for what it was like to live in the West in 1901 I related to the characters and they kept me entertained There is some suspense mixed in with a very macabre villain I don t remember his fate getting tied up completely so I wonder if he ll influence a seuel That guy is creepy and I d love to know he got his dueA TOUCH OF FOREVER is uniue in many ways including the last chapter I love Goodman s style and I can t wait to dig into my ever growing Live Wire (Elite Ops, pile of her backlist Don t miss reading A TOUCH OF FROST the first book in THE COWBOYS OF COLORADO series my recommended read at Romance JunkiesReview by Dorine courtesy of RomanceJunkiescom Digital and Print copyrovided by the ublisher for an honest review Lily Salt has been through a lot but finally has settled into a comfortable contented life as a widower and mother of four children Her careful attempts to keep eople at arm s length goes by the wayside when Roan Shepherd a railroad engineer new to Frost Falls takes notice of her She tries to rebuff his interest but Roan he s Lauras Summer Ballet (Laura, persistent and as a further complication he hires her son Clay as an assistantMy heart went out to Lily in therevious book and so I was so leased that she s doing so well for her and her children here I liked that she was an independent woman and didn t need a man to make her happy but the addition of Roan was like icing on a cake The gradual way their friendship forms was a delight to experience The careful way Roan treated their burgeoning romance made me fall hard for Roan The kids were very much a art of the story each so sweet and it was touching how rotective they were of their mother These kids needed careful handling as they were affected by the abuse of their mother as well I loved how Roan interacted with them never overbearing but a father figure there to support and love them There s a bit of suspense here too as with the revious installments with Roan s Film on the Left past mistress in the mix A selfish sociopath if there ever was one with her shady detective in tow An interesting mix of side charactersstories grabbed my attention Fedora Chen an American Chinese woman and the obstacles she faces in this timeeriod with a nice little romance brewing there too I m wondering if the next installment if there is one might feature Fedora I also enjoyed the Old West setting the historical aspects of the railway expansion and life in the 1800 s Always interesting to imagine how it would be to live back then without all the modern conveniences we have now and with the differences in attitude towards women and minorities I ve loved the two Public Policy Making previous installments but A Touch of Forever is my favorite to date The uiet but intense emotions between these two sucked me in to this lovely story It is a slow burn romance but wow it heated up As a side note it s not necessary to read therevious books to enjoy this one In fact each book can easily be read as a standalone I switched back and forth from the e book to my audio copy I loved the Laurel Lefkow s The Artists Way Morning Pages Journal performance She captured some of the wry tone of comments and teasing I didn t necessarilyick up on until listening to her reading I The Mob paid a little attention while traditionally reading and it definitely enhanced my experience I listened at my usual 125xs the normal speed A copy was kindlyrovided by Berkley Books in exchange for an honest review I remembering thinking the receding book in this series was charming This one is just as much so with just a tich heartLily Salt is. MET HER IN THE PREVIOUS BOOKher in the revious book Touch of Flame where her story as a major subplot In this one she is living in the aftermath of her husband s death and trying to Utopia put behind her her dismal marriageRoen Shepherd is a surveyor with the Railroad company who has come to town to work out the logistics of where is the bestlace to run the rail line through this town He is from back east and has a big bohemian artsy family some of whom are famous enough to even be known this far out westThe two enter into a marriage of convenience after the richspoiled ex mistress of Roen s lets him know she is on her way to get her man At first I was a little exasperated when this development was introduced in the story because I basically hate OW drama But the way it O Jogo do Acaso played out the character s drama was largely contained to an initial confrontation with Roen and being an asshole toeople in the town Her The Wedding Day presence didn t interfere in any way in the growing regard between Roen and Lily because their MOC was based on a foundation of truth and trust Lily knew everything about the ex because Roen was upfront from the beginningIn fact the stuff with the ex felt almost like a minor annoyance since the author allowed the story between Roen and Lily to really concentrate on moving the MOC to a marriage in truth The two banter and spar expertly They smile at each other in delight as they begin to really enjoy each other s company Roen takes measured baby steps with Lily because he begins to suspect the truth of herrevious marriage I also liked the kids They each had a defined Firefight (The Reckoners, personality and they were charming smart and funny to boot I liked how Roen had a different relationship with each child and we saw how they also began to regard him as a father as his relationship with Lily grew strongerThere is a nice blot romance between Fedora a Chinese immigrant who works in the hotel as a waitress and Hitch the town deputy They have to overcome rejudices and some real menace toward Fedora But it is a really sweet romance that unfolds nicelyMany of the townspeople who opulated the revious books are also characters in this one and round out the storyIn the end the story ends satisfactorily for all eople involved and a couple of bad characters get their comeuppanceI listened on audio and the narrator Laurel Lefkow read the book superbly She had a nice light humorous cast to her storytelling that gave the book it s light and humorous feel in all the right Stumble Into Love places Few cowboys but a lot of heartDespite the series title Lily and Roen s story offered a gentle tale of survival and romance with cowboys as their backdrop Both had baggage to spare as life knocked them down and sideways with Lily especially keeping herself aloof Despite their secrets they found in each other someone they could trust and rely on in short supply until now Circumstances had them on a road to fake marriage but also to real loveI liked this story After I got over my disappointment of not enough cowboys of course I don t know what the early west was like not really but I d like to think this author s take on it is close Despite the harsh realities of their time men and women still found each other in all the crazy ways that can happen If I didn t connect with the characters as much as I d hoped I was invested and happy as anyone they found their happily ever after Diane 35 stars Entertaining but no cowboyser se I was sad because this was not a cowboy story At least not in the sense that we are thinking of riding the Gun Meister Online plains or rustling cattleThe story did take me by surprise as I did not realize it was a very long book On one hand I was frustrated because the beginning included a lot of detail and a very slow build upBut as we reach the middle of the book the story starts winding up and we find ourselves in the middle of a marriage of convenience a mysteryregnancy and even a murder the story got a lot interestingGoodman is well known for her American tales of the west and her historical romance novels This Dictionary of Literary Biography, Volume 285 particular story is book three in a series and while I ve never read any of the others it was very easy to followComplex characters along with complex and interestinglot scenarios make this a story that is highly entertaining and very memorable You will definitely need to set aside time to absorb this book but be Fifty Key British Films prepared to enjoy this uniue historical western romance with a family saga twist copy received for reviewfull review.
